Spider Veins

Leg telangiectasias also known as “spider veins” are very common, occurring in 35% of women. There are many factors that cause spider veins including a genetic pre-disposition, pregnancy and trauma. Spider veins tend to become increasingly apparent with age.

While sclerotherapy remains the gold standard for the treatment of leg veins (particularly blue reticular and varicose veins) the Candela Vbeam Perfecta® provides successful results in the clearance of small “spider vein” leg vessels and offers an alternative for those who sclerotherapy may not be an option whether its for health reasons or a needle phobia.

An initial consult is required to see whether your veins are suitable for treatment with the Candela Vbeam Perfecta® or whether referral for an ultrasound and sclerotherapy is required. Even if sclerotherapy is required, after the larger blue veins are treated, the small spider veins can then be treated with laser to give your legs an optimal aesthetic outcome.
